Description: The CIC is evaluating endpoint security software to identify the best software for the needs of the CIC member institutions.
Outcome: The project goal is to identify and select an endpoint security suite that will provide protection to desktops, servers, and mobile devices. By participating in the larger CIC group, we hope to negotiate better pricing for the university.
Milestones and status:
- August 2009: Begin gathering software requirements from universities
- December 2009: Issue RFP
- January 2010: RFP responses due
- January 2010: Proof of concept demonstrations from vendors
- February 2010: Final negotiations with vendors
- March 2010: Finalize CIC contract
- March-July 2010: Campus contract negotiations and purchases
- May 2010: Symantec awarded contract with CIC to provide endpoint protection products to CIC schools at discounted prices
- July 2010: Indiana University leverages CIC contract and signs a contract with Symantec that extends through June 2013, making Symantec Antivirus products available to IU students, faculty, and staff at no cost from IUware.
