At Indiana University, if you're taking or teaching a database class that uses the SQL Server database server IU-UITS-EDIDP1, or a web development class that uses the IIS web server IU-UITS-EDIWP1, and if you have an account on the server, you can connect as follows:

  • For IIS, access the shares on IU-UITS-EDIWP1.ADS.IU.EDU using your IU username and the share name:
     \\iu-uits-ediwp1.ads.iu.edu\username

Place any web content in the wwwroot folder. The URL to the content in that folder is:

     http://iu-uits-ediwp1.ads.iu.edu/username/
  • For Microsoft SQL Server, connect to IU-UITS-EDIDP1.ADS.IU.EDU using SQL Server Management Studio 2012. In most cases, you should be able to use Windows Authentication for the SQL Server connections from SQL Server Management Studio.

Faculty members can obtain the SQL Server 2012 SP1 software from a departmental IT Pro. IT Pros will be able to provide the software from IUware.

  • You can also connect to IU-UITS-EDIDP1.ADS.IU.EDU using Aqua Data Studio. This software is installed in the IUB and IUPUI STCs. In most cases, you should be able to use Windows Single Sign-on for connections from Aqua Data Studio. You can also get Aqua Data Studio 4.7.2 (the last free version) from IUware.
