At Indiana University Bloomington, a Green Team is an an informal group of faculty, staff, and students in a particular campus unit who work collectively to promote environmentally friendly practices within that unit. The team can consist of any number of people, from one to many. Some actions Green Teams might take include:

  • Posting information about duplex printing
  • Placing prompts in common areas reminding people to turn off the lights
  • Carpooling to the office
  • Reporting leaky faucets to Building Services

If you are in a department or unit at IUB that does not currently have a Green Team and you'd like to start one, see the Office of Sustainability's guide for ideas about how to get started. You can register your Green Team with the Office of Sustainability from this page, or follow the instructions below.

Registering a Green Team

To register a Green Team, you need to already have a Network ID. The person who registers the team will be considered the team leader, i.e., the Office of Sustainability's main contact for the team. To register a team:

  1. Go to Green Team, and log in with your Network ID.
  2. Fill out the form describing your team.
  3. Enter prospective members. All those you enter will receive email messages inviting them to confirm their membership with the team.
  4. When you have filled in all the information, click Everything is correct and I am ready to submit my proposed team.

You should receive a reply from the Green Team administrator in the Office of Sustainability within a few days. If the administrator approves your team, it will appear in the list of Green Teams.
