At IU, how do I configure Windows Phone 8 or 7 for Exchange ActiveSync?

Note:
Students who are admitted but not yet enrolled can only open web pages on the IU Secure network. Other Internet services, e.g., email or chat clients, gaming services, etc., will not work until you have enrolled status.

At Indiana University, to set up Exchange ActiveSync on your device running Windows Phone 8 or 7, from the home screen:

  1. Swipe to the left (or tap the arrow on the right).
  2. Scroll down and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap email & accounts.
  4. Tap Add an Account and choose Exchange.
  5. Tap the Email address box, and then type your IU email address.
  6. Tap the Password box, and then type your Network ID passphrase.
  7. Tap Sign in.
  8. If the account settings are found, wait for your Exchange email, calendar, and contacts to be synced to your phone. You're all done setting up your account.

If the account settings are not found, review the settings for your email address and password, type ADS in the "Domain" field, and try to sign in again.

If you are still having problems, tap advanced and make sure the following information is correct:

    • Email address: Your IU email address
    • Password: Your IU passphrase
    • Username: Your IU username
    • Exchange server address: eas.exchange.iu.edu
    • Server requires encrypted connection (SSL): This box should be checked.
Note:
IU allows Exchange partnerships with up to 10 mobile devices. If you experience issues setting up an Exchange account on your mobile device, you may want to verify how many devices you have partnered with Exchange; see In Outlook Web App, how can I manage my Exchange ActiveSync device?
