XSEDE DNS and certificate information

Note: The following information is intended for staff members of the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) project.

Send XSEDE DNS and certificate requests to help@xsede.org.

DNS

Send DNS requests for the top-level xsede.org domain with the subject "DNS REQUEST". For entries in delegated sub-domains (e.g., nics.xsede.org or tacc.xsede.org), you will need to contact that domain's administrator. The list of delegated sub domains and their contacts are on the XSEDE wiki. A running list of the domain records to be moved to xsede.org is also available on the wiki at the same location. You will need an account on the XSEDE wiki to see the information in these two lists.

Certificates

Send certificate requests with the subject "Certificate request", and include:

  • A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) in PEM format with a key size of at least 2,048 bits.
  • How long (in years) you would like to purchase the certificate for.
  • The Secure HTTP server vendor and version.

For information on certificates, see the XSEDE wiki.

For certificates containing multiple server names, consider using the certificate subjectAltName field. So, for example, if xsede.org, portal.xsede.org, and wiki.xsede.org are the same server, you can get one certificate that will work for all the needed names.

Indicate in your request if you want to use the subjectAltName field, and list the Fully Qualified Domain Names you would like added to the subjectAltName.
