Overview

The UITS Windows Network Repair Tool:

  • Provides a quick way for the UITS Support Center to collect information for tracking network issues on campus, including IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6), MAC addresses, and operating system information.
  • Attempts to automatically resolve networking issues; the tool is capable of performing many common troubleshooting processes simultaneously. The tool can perform the following actions:
    • Reset TCP/IP Stack for IPv4
    • Reset TCP/IP Stack for IPv6
    • Reset Windows Winsock
    • Flush DNS cache
    • Renew DNS registration
    • Reset WinHTTP proxy settings
    • Release/renew DHCP IP address
    • Reset Windows Firewall settings
    • Reset Windows Hosts file
    • Set Windows to manage wireless

System requirements

The tool supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is also required. The tool will install .NET 3.5 if the software is missing, or you can manually download the .NET Framework 3.5 software from Microsoft.

Install and use the tool

  1. Download and install the UITS Windows Network Repair Tool from IUware.
  2. To launch the tool, double-click the icon. Alternatively, from the Start menu, select All Programs or Programs, then Indiana University, and then click UITS Windows Network Repair Tool.
  3. To perform the default network repair process, click Repair Network Connection.

    To enable several advanced options, or to disable specific default repair options, click the Advanced tab.
