ARCHIVED: If the Microsoft Lync federation between Indiana University and another organization isn't working

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

The Microsoft Lync servers at Indiana University use certificates issued by InCommon. Therefore, for the federation between IU and another organization to work, the Lync administrator at the federated organization will need to confirm that the InCommon Server CA issued by AddTrust External CA Root is in the Intermediate Certification Authorities store on the organization's Lync Edge server(s).

Also, if the other organization's administrators have not enabled automatic partner discovery on the Lync Edge service, they will need to allow the following IU SIP domains for federation:

  indiana.edu
  iu.edu
  iue.edu
  iuk.edu
  iun.edu
  iupuc.edu
  iupui.edu
  ius.edu
  iusb.edu

All SIP domains share the following Edge servers:

  bl-edge-access.ads.iu.edu
  in-edge-access.ads.iu.edu
