ARCHIVED: Using Globus Online to transfer data, why am I getting a "no nodes available" or "server may be too busy" error?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

When using Globus Online to transfer data between Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) digital services, submitting too many processes simultaneously can overload the target GridFTP server, and you may get a "no nodes available" error message, or one similar to this, using Ranch (TACC) as an example:

"Error (connect) Server: gridftp.ranch.tacc.teragrid.org:2811
Message: The server may be too busy."

Make sure to limit yourself to one or two transfers at a time.

If the problem persists, contact the XSEDE Help Desk.
