Primary UITS contact: James McGookey

Completed: January 1, 2015

Description: The project will evaluate an on-premise installation of the Kaltura video management system as a possible solution for EP Action Item 34.

Outcome: The pilot has been commissioned to determine if Kaltura's solution fulfills the following needs:

  • Replace existing streaming infrastructure
  • Enhance Oncourse's multimedia capabilities
  • Create a user-generated video repository, including support for student content
  • Integrate Microsoft's SharePoint with Kaltura's repository
  • Determine if there is any overlap or synergy with other EP action items and other existing or planned multimedia projects

Comment process: Email James McGookey.

Benefits: Managing and publishing user-generated audio/video content is currently a laborious task that needs to be streamlined. The Kaltura solution has the potential to improve the user process of uploading and presenting media for academic and administrative needs. Integration with existing systems should create an environment of video ubiquity within the university.
