Overview

You can access Indiana University's UniCom service on iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices using the Microsoft Lync 2010 mobile app; see ARCHIVED: Mobile clients to use with UniCom.

After downloading the Lync 2010 app to your device, open the application. The first time you run the mobile app, you need to configure your account information. Follow the appropriate instructions below.

iPhone and iPad

  1. When you see "'Lync 2010' Would Like to Send Push Notifications", tap OK.
    Note:
Enabling push notifications is recommended for an experience similar to the way Lync works on the desktop; however, if you choose, you can use the software without push notifications.
  2. For "Sign-in address", type your sign-in address, which is usually the same as your email address; see ARCHIVED: UniCom sign-in address.
  3. For "Password", type your IU passphrase (but do not press return).
  4. Tap More Details.
  5. For "User name", type ads\username, replacing username with your IU username.
  6. Be sure "Auto-detect server" is set to On.
  7. At the bottom of the screen, tap Sign in.
  8. After successfully signing in, tap Next to continue the setup process.
  9. Under "Enter your iPhone number with country and region codes", confirm that your mobile phone number is being displayed (for example, +18125555555), and then tap Next.
  10. Tap Done.
    Note:
On an iPhone, if you prefer not to have incoming calls to your work number simultaneously ring your mobile phone, tap the My info button at the bottom of the screen. Then tap Simultaneously ring to change your call forwarding preference.

Android

  1. Tap Accept to accept the terms of use.
  2. On the device, tap the Menu button, and then tap Options.
  3. Tap User name, and enter ads\username, replacing username with your IU username. Then tap Ok.
  4. Tap your device's Back button.
  5. For "Sign-in address", type your sign-in address, which is usually the same as your email address; see ARCHIVED: UniCom sign-in address.
  6. For "Password", type your IU passphrase. To avoid having to retype your passphrase each time you use the Lync mobile client, check Remember my password.
  7. Tap Sign in.
  8. After successfully signing in, tap the Next button at the bottom of the screen to continue the setup process.
  9. Under "Make it yours", confirm that your mobile phone number is being displayed (for example, +18125555555), and then tap Next.
