ARCHIVED: If I am leaving IU or moving to another department, what should I do with my OTP (One Time Password) token?

Important:
UITS has replaced One Time Password (OTP) with Duo for two-factor authentication.

Even though OTP (One Time Password) tokens are assigned to individual people, the tokens are departmental property. Departments can deactivate and re-assign them; see ARCHIVED: How can I deactivate or unassign an OTP (One Time Password) token?

If you have an OTP token assigned to you and are leaving your department, return the token to your department before you go.

If you are moving to another department within IU and will need access to OTP protected systems in your new position, your new department should provide you with a token from its inventory, which you can then activate; see ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I activate my OTP token?

Alternatively, some hiring departments may offer to "trade in" a spare, unassigned token from their inventory to your previous department so that you can bring your existing OTP token over with you to the new department. Such trades do not pose any technical problems for the OTP system, and are simply a matter of bookkeeping and negotiation by the departments involved.
