On IU List, as a list subscriber, how do I hide myself from other subscribers of the list?

Note: This feature only protects you from other subscribers. Owners may have access to the full list roster. Be very careful with changes to this setting.

If you have already subscribed and posted to the list, be warned that this option does not change access to other information, such as the list archives. If the list owner has chosen to make the web archives public, your subscriber information may still be visible as part of that archive, or as part of replies in that archive.

Using the web interface

  1. Log into the campus IU List website for your list; see What is IU List, and how do I use it?
  2. Click the button for the correct list on the left panel.
  3. Select Subscriber Options.
  4. Change your visibility to Concealed or Listed, and then click Update. This setting only applies to the list you have selected.

Using email commands

To conceal your name from the list, send the following command to the campus IU List administrative address (e.g., list@iupui.edu; see On IU List, how do I manage my list subscriptions?):

  SET listname CONCEAL

To undo this:

  SET listname UNCONCEAL

To change the status on all lists at that campus, use the commands:

  SET * CONCEAL

  SET * UNCONCEAL

For more email commands, see On IU List, what commands are available via email?
