On IU List, how do I subscribe to a list?

To add yourself to an IU List mailing list, send an email message to the list's subscription address. You can leave the body of the message blank.

IU List subscription addresses follow this general format:

  listname-l-subscribe@[iu_domain].edu

For any IU List, replace listname with the name of the list to which you want to subscribe and [iu_domain] with the appropriate IU campus domain (e.g., indiana, iupui, or iu). For example, to subscribe to the example-l@iu.edu list, send a blank email message to example-l-subscribe@iu.edu.

To add yourself to several lists served from the same campus domain, send an email message to the appropriate command address (e.g., list@indiana.edu, list@iupui.edu, list@iu.edu, etc.); leave the Subject line blank, but in the body, enter SUBSCRIBE (or SUB) commands, one per line, for each list subscription request. For example:

  SUBSCRIBE listname
  SUBSCRIBE listname2
  SUBSCRIBE listname3
  name
