ARCHIVED: How do I resolve the .Net Framework 3.5 error in Report Builder?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

When running Report Builder 3.0 from SharePoint PerformancePoint Services Reports Library, you may receive the following message:

To use Report Builder, you must install .Net Framework 3.5 on this computer.

When using Internet Explorer 9, you may see this message even though you have .Net 3.5 or higher installed. To resolve the issue, enable the Internet Explorer 9 Compatibility View to include the website or all websites.

Note:
UITS strongly recommends that you use a supported browser, and not Internet Explorer (IE). Microsoft 365 apps and services no longer support Internet Explorer.
  1. In Internet Explorer 9, select Tools > Compatibility View settings.
  2. In the "Add this website:" field, enter the website where Reporting Services is being consumed, and then click Add.

Alternatively, you can select Display all websites in Compatibility View.

  3. Click Close.
  4. Restart Internet Explorer and rerun Report Services; it should now open the Report Services application.
