To request data source connections to additional systems, contact EDSS. Once your request has been satisfied, proceed as follows.

As part of your initial setup of the SQL Server 2012 Enterprise toolset, you should have installed the Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools component, also known as Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Data Tools Edition) (see the "SQL Server" section of ARCHIVED: In EBI, what software prerequisites and configurations do I need?); you will use this to create your connection.

  1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools (Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Data Tools Edition)).
  2. From the File menu, select Open..., and then select the appropriate Analysis Services database; see the "Development build cycle" section of ARCHIVED: In EBI, how are reports developed?
  3. In the "Solutions Explorer" window, open the Data Sources folder.
  4. Double-click the data source, and select Edit....
  5. A new window will open. Enter the username and password of the relevant account (best practice is to use a departmental service account). Click Test Connection.
  6. Click OK to save settings.
