ARCHIVED: Control what others see in CN Post
Indiana University's contract with CourseNetworking (CN Post) ended on December 31, 2023, and the CN Post tool has been removed from Canvas. UITS recommends using InScribe 2.0 as a replacement for the social, peer-to-peer discussion aspects of CN Post. For a list of alternative ePortfolio platforms, see ePortfolio software options.
CourseNetworking provides lifelong access to ePortfolios you've already created; you can log into CN to access them. For issues accessing existing ePortfolios in CourseNetworking, contact help@coursenetworking.com.

Overview
CN Post, sometimes referred to as CourseNetworking, includes members from various schools and universities; anyone in the world may also create an account. Therefore, if you create an account, some information about you may be visible to virtually anyone.
Profile information
The first time you access the CN Post tool from within Canvas, you'll be prompted to create an account on the CN.
When you create your account, you'll be assigned a CN Number, consisting of your initials followed by a number. This serves as your username within the CN. If you create your account through a Canvas site that has been linked to the CN, your full name will be associated with your account automatically, and your IU email address will be set as your primary email address within the CN. You can edit both your name and your primary email address in your profile.
You can control the visibility of most information in your profile. To do so:
- In CN Post, from the top left corner of the page, click the more options icon .
- Click the edit (pencil) icon next to your name.
- In the profile page that opens, drop-down menus for visibility will be available from the right side of each available section (for example, "Badges").
For each item, select from the following:
- All CN members
- Classmates in all your CN courses
- Instructors of all your CN courses
- Only you
Information you post
Each time you create a post, event, or poll, you can set its visibility to determine who will see it. Choose from:
- Only members of the course you're posting from
- Members of the course you're posting from and any member of a course within the same subject category
- Members of the course you're posting from and whichever of your other courses you select. Once something is posted to multiple sites, members of all those sites can participate in a joint discussion.
- Only members from selected course groups; this option is not available unless the instructor has assigned course members to groups.
- Only you
- The visibility of the post, poll, event, ClassCast, or quiz will follow the visibility setting of the linked task.
