You can add an assignment from the Assignments tool to a page in Lessons (beta). For more about the Assignments tool, see ARCHIVED: Assignments.

Adding an assignment

To add an existing assignment to a Lessons page, at the top of the Lessons page, click Add Assignment. You'll see a list of all assignments already created in the Assignments tool. Select the one you wish to add, and click Use selected item.

To create or edit an assignment from within Lessons (beta):

  1. At the top of the Lessons page, click Create new assignment using Assignments.
  2. Create a new assignment or modify an existing one just as you would in the Assignments tool. (For more, see ARCHIVED: Adding, editing, or removing an assignment.)
  3. When the assignment has been created, at the top, click Continue with Add Assignment.
  4. You'll return to the list of assignments; select the assignment, and click Use selected item.

Editing an assignment

To set the properties of the assignment as it pertains to your Lessons page:

  1. Click Edit to the left of the assignment you would like to modify.
  2. In the "Edit Item" box, you can modify any of the following:
    • Item Name: Change the name of the text in the link to your assignment on the main Lessons page.
    • Item Description: Add or change a description of your assignment, which will appear beneath the link to the assignment.
    • Change Assignment: Choose a different assignment to link to.
    • Edit Assignment: Open the Assignments tool to modify this assignment.
    • Don't Release Item Until All Prerequisites are Completed: Select this option to make the assignment available only after previously required items have been completed.
    • Require that the student submit this assignment: Select if students must complete this item before progressing in a Lessons plan.
    • Require that the student receive ____ points on this assignment: Select this option to make it necessary to score a certain number of points on the assignment to continue. You can only select this if the item is required.
    • Edit the groups for which this item should be shown: Allows you to make this assignment visible only to certain groups or sections if they are defined for the site. See ARCHIVED: Managing groups.
  3. To save your changes, click Update Item. To remove the assignment from your Lessons page, click Delete.

Note: If your assignment has an "Accept Until" date, students will be unable to submit after that date, even if the assignment is required to progress in Lessons (beta). You can override the settings for individual students in the Assignments tool; see ARCHIVED: Grading or returning an assignment or reviewing student status.
