How do I clear all data from my BlackBerry 10 device?

At Indiana University, if you have configured your device to connect to Exchange, you can use OWA to wipe your data remotely if your device is lost or stolen; see In Outlook Web App, how can I manage my Exchange ActiveSync device?

Warning:
A security wipe in BlackBerry 10 will delete all data on your device, including email accounts, downloaded apps, media files, documents, browser bookmarks, and settings.

To perform a security wipe in BlackBerry 10 (i.e., clear all data from your device):

  1. From the "Home" screen, swipe down from the top.
  2. Tap Settings, then Security and Privacy, and then Security Wipe.
  3. Type blackberry.
  4. Tap Delete Data.

When the security wipe is complete, your device will power off automatically. To power up your device, press the Power/Lock key on the top of your device.
