Find a specific journal in IUCAT

Find a newspaper, magazine, journal, or other periodical in IUCAT by searching for its title and limiting your search results by format. The steps described below are particularly important when you want to find a periodical with a one-word title, such as Science, Time, or Life. You can do a periodical title search in both the basic and advanced search screens.

Basic search

  1. From the drop-down list to the left of the search box, select Title.
  2. Type the title of the periodical in the search box. For an exact title match, enclose the title in quotation marks.
  3. Click Search.
  4. On the left side of the screen, from the Format options, click Journal, Periodical.
Note:
Limiting your search to serials will find materials available both in print and online. To find only materials available online, also limit your search by checking the Online Only box right below the search box. If you select this box, make sure to click Search again to apply it.

Advanced search

  1. Just below the Search button, use the gear icon to open search options, and click Advanced Search.
  2. On the left side of the screen, under the "Format" facet, check Journal, Periodical.
  3. Type the title of the periodical into the "Title:" field. For an exact title match, enclose the title in quotation marks.
  4. Click Search.
Note:
Limiting your search to serials will find materials available both in print and online. To find only materials available online, also limit your search by checking the Online Only box just above the "All Fields" search box.
