Following are the top 10 technology tips for Indiana University students, as recommended by UITS:

  1. Select a cloud storage option: Decide which platform you'd like to use to store and collaborate on files; for details, see Options for storing files at IU. You can access this account online, in the Student Technology Centers (STCs), on IUanyWare, and from your mobile device.
  2. Authorize cloud storage: Connect your Google at IU My Drive and/or Microsoft OneDrive at IU account to computers in the STCs, IUanyWare thin clients, and IUanyWare for your personal computer or mobile device. Log in with your IU username and passphrase at https://cloudstorage.iu.edu, and then choose Authorize under your chosen platform.
  3. Use IUanyWare: Use IUanyWare to stream your favorite software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud, to your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. To get started, see Set up and use IUanyWare.
  4. Download educational software: Hundreds of software titles are available for download via IUware. Microsoft Office applications are available via . You are also eligible to use Adobe Creative Cloud; for more, see Individual Adobe software titles available at IU.
  5. Improve your computing knowledge and skills: Now that you have the software, learn how to make the most of it. Online courses, webinars, special events, and discounted training from leading vendors are available. Learn more at https://ittraining.iu.edu/.
  6. Meet online with Zoom: Use Zoom for meetings, where you can share presentations, images, and desktop applications with participants. For more, see About Zoom at IU.
  7. Get IT support when you need it: The UITS Support Center provides live chat, phone, email, and face-to-face IT support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Chat online with a consultant at https://ithelplive.iu.edu, or call your campus Support Center. Also, Technology Center Consulting provides 24/7 support for students in the Learning Commons at IU Bloomington.
  8. Contact AskIU for general IU information: Contact AskIU whenever you need directions to campus locations, information about a sporting or artistic event, or an answer to a general question about any IU campus. Contact AskIU via email or call 812-855-IUIU (4848).
  9. Use One.IU: Use https://one.iu.edu to easily complete tasks such as finding a class, checking your grades, or paying a bill. Search by name or category, or click a title, or use a search engine such as Google rather than starting from the One.IU interface. Once you find what you want, you can authenticate and finish your task.
