Important:
Oncourse is retired. For details, see About the Oncourse retirement.

If you have an existing Oncourse site that contains Lessons pages with linked assignments, assessments, or forum topics, after importing items into a new site, you may need to take several additional steps for those links to work properly, depending on which browser you're using.

To import from sites that have graded items and are linked through Lessons (beta):

  1. Verify all needed tools are present in the new site.
  2. In the new site, click Site Setup, and then select Site Import.
  3. Click I would like to replace my data.
  4. Select the site from which you want to import material, and then click Continue.
  5. Choose Lessons, Assignments, Forums, Tests & Surveys, Gradebook, Resources, and any other items you wish to import. Click Finish.

For details about importing material, see ARCHIVED: Using Oncourse, how do I import material or participants from another site I own?

In addition, take the following steps as appropriate, depending on the browser you are using:

  • Firefox 24: For links to assessments to work in Lessons, publish the assessments in Tests & Surveys in the new site. Links to assignments and forum topics will work properly without any additional action when imported into Lessons.
  • Internet Explorer 10 and 11: If you have imported links to assignments from Assignments into Lessons, do the following to make sure the links function properly in Lessons:
    1. From the menubar, click Lessons (beta). You will see a warning like:
This item was copied from another site. It won't work until you do "Edit" and "Change Assignment" to pick an assignment that is valid in this site.
    2. Next to the assignment you imported, click Edit.
    3. In the pop-up window, click Change Assignment.
    4. Select the assignment for that link.
    5. Click Use selected item.
    Note:
On January 12, 2016, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer versions prior to version 11. UITS strongly recommends that you upgrade to a new operating system if your current system does not support Internet Explorer 11.

Note: For links to assessments to work in Lessons, publish the assessments in Tests & Surveys in the new site. Links to forum topics will work properly without any additional action when imported into Lessons.

  • Firefox 23 for Mac: Follow the instructions for Internet Explorer 10/11 above.
