Export and import in FireForm

On this page:

Overview

UITS recommends that you initially build forms in your Stage environment. You can easily export forms built in Stage to PRD.

Pivot sets and workflows

The following instructions apply to exporting and importing forms (sections and elements) only. Form components such as pivot sets and workflows must be exported/imported separately; however, this function is similar to that which is described below.

UITS recommends exporting and importing pivot sets and workflows prior to exporting and importing the form, as the pivot sets and workflows will be required for the desired form functionality. When importing a workflow, if a related state does not already exist in the tenant, it will be automatically created.

Export

  1. In the Tools menu, select Forms.
  2. On the subsequent page, select the form you'd like to export.
  3. You'll be on the "Form Details" page in view mode. Select one of the following options:
    • Export Form: Exports all components of the form by generating a .txt file. You can save this file to any location you choose, such as your desktop, and share it with others if needed.
      Note:
Choose this option if you plan to import the form into another FireForm tenant environment.
    • Export Form Structure: Exports the tenant code and other base information (no form content) and generates a .csv file. This may be useful for building a Denodo view, as it provides basic information, IDs, and mapping.

Import

  1. In the Tools menu, select Forms. On the subsequent page, in the upper right, select Import Form.
  2. Enter the form basics. Under "Import File", select Select a file to select the .txt file to be imported, and then select Save.

You'll return to the "Forms" page, and the imported form will now be in the list of FireForms you administer. The form will be imported as inactive, and will not be visible in the online view until the status is changed to active.

Note:
Some functionality will need to be updated following the import (such as state notifications assigned to specific elements). Therefore, UITS recommends that you review the imported form functionality and make updates as needed.
