ARCHIVED: In Canvas, how do I add Unizin Engage (IU eTexts) to my course?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Resources linked from this page may no longer be available or reliable.

To use IU eTexts in Canvas, add the Unizin Engage tool to your course manually, in addition to ordering IU eTexts for the class using the standard process; see Adopt IU eTexts as an IU faculty member.

In Canvas, the Unizin Engage tool is hidden by default.

To add a hidden tool to your course navigation menu:

  1. In your course navigation menu, click Settings.
  2. On the Navigation tab, in the list of hidden tools (under "Drag items here to hide them from students"), find the desired tool, and then click the corresponding Settings (gear) icon.

To add the desired tool, click the corresponding gear icon, select 'Enable', and then click 'Save'.

  3. Select Enable and, if desired, drag and drop the enabled tool to change its position in the tool list.
  4. Click Save.

A second instance of this tool is available if you wish to also include a link to Unizin Engage in a module.

Note:
When cross-listing Canvas courses that use IU eTexts, make sure that all classes adopt the same ISBNs, since cross-listing with a course that uses different or no IU eTexts will break the links to the IU eTexts materials.
