Prerequisite

Note:

Configure public key policies/Certificate Services Client - Auto-enrollment settings:

  • Enroll new certificates
  • Renew expired certificates
  • Process pending certificate requests
  • Remove revoked certificate revoked requests

Request a certificate

  1. Open the Certificates snap-in for a user or computer; see Add the Certificates Snap-in to an MMC.
  2. In the console tree, click Certificates - Current User or Certificates (Local Computer).
  3. On the Action menu, point to "All Tasks", and then click Request New Certificate to start the Certificate Enrollment wizard. Click Next.
  4. Select the types of certificates that you want.
  5. Click Details to review additional information about each certificate. If a caution symbol appears below a certificate, you might need to provide more before requesting that certificate. Click the More information is required to enroll for this certificate. Click here to configure message and provide the requested details, such as a subject name or the location of a valid signing certificate.
  6. To finish, click Enroll.
