How do I use Cyberduck to connect to Webserve?

Important:
On Webserve, PHP 7.1 will become the default version in spring 2018; however, PHP 5.6 will still be available until it is retired at the end of December 2018. For help specifying which version of PHP to use, see PHP server-side scripting language.

For Mac users, UITS suggests using Cyberduck as your Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) client. Cyberduck is available from IUware.

To use Cyberduck on Webserve:

  1. Open Cyberduck. In the upper left, click Open Connection.

  2. From the drop-down menu at the top, select SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol).

  3. In the remaining fields, enter the following:
    • Server: webserve.iu.edu
    • Username: Name of your web account
    • Password: Your Webserve account passphrase
      Note:
For most, the name of the web account appears after the tilde (~) in the URL for that account.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. A window will open and list files and directories in your Webserve account. To view the files within a directory, click the triangle next to it.

  6. To upload files or folders, drag them from your computer to the www directory in the Cyberduck window. To download files or folders, drag them from Cyberduck to your computer.
