Top-level folder permissions will not transfer between Box and Google
For group, organizational, or BEDA Box accounts, folder permissions must be set up manually in Google at IU Shared Drives.

    Either:

  • Before migration, add people to the Shared Drive level in your Google at IU Shared Drives. This will give users access to all the data on that Shared Drive.
  • After your migration is complete, grant permissions on the individual folder.

Owners of Box Organizational and Entrusted Data Accounts cannot see migrated folders
Once a folder on an OA or BEDA completes its migration, it is moved a retention area ("Box Hold") where it will remain until Box is retired. Users retain read-only access, but due to the way permissions work on Box, OA and BEDA owners do not.
Owners may contact Support Center Tier 2 to request that their access be restored.

"Invalid login credentials" when logging in as a group account
You can no longer directly log into Box with a group account. This is to prevent folder moves and deletions that could cause migration errors.
If you are a collaborator on any folders owned by a group account, you still should be able to access them from your personal Box account. If you are not a collaborator, anyone with co-owner permissions or (often) editor permissions will be able to invite you.

Folders owned by a group account are no longer visible
Folders shared with you by a group account are no longer visible. The group account owner may not have submitted a Box group account migration request.
The group account owner can contact the Support Center to have the account temporarily reactivated, and then fill out and submit the Request Group Migration form for that account.

Some collaborations are not maintained
Some collaborations are not maintain after the migration; this usually occurs with collaborators external to IU. SkySync will attempt to create a collaboration using the same address in either Microsoft or Google, but sometimes this is not possible.
The migration report's Flagged Shares tab lists all shares that could not be created.

Box Notes failing to migrate
The migration of Box Notes, which is a new functionality in SkySync, has a significant failure rate. Migration reports list these errors under "Flagged Items" and will include the message "The content rendition could not be retrieved."
Manually copy over the contents.

Permissions notifications during migration from Box to OneDrive
When your migration from Box to OneDrive is in progress, you may receive notifications from no-reply@sharepoint.com with the subject "SkySync Administration () has created an anonymous access link to [file or folder name]."
To clear these notifications, search for SkySync Administration () within your email client, and then either mark these messages as read or delete them, as desired.

Box shared links
Due to security concerns and technical limitations, shared links cannot be migrated from Box. Links limited to collaborators only in Box are made available to everyone at IU in both destinations.
It is still possible to create shared links on files and folders after they have been migrated, but you'll need to do this manually.

"SkySync Administration" appears as an owner on files and folders in Microsoft OneDrive at IU
All files and folders in OneDrive display "SkySync Administration" as an owner. This is a necessary component of the migration from Box, but it does not imply that SkySync owns your data.
"SkySync Administration" will be removed as an owner after the migration from Box is complete, no later than June 2021.

Individually-owned files no longer appear in Box after migration
The original versions of your files will be retained in a read-only state on Box. They will be in a folder named <your name> (<your IU email address>) Files and Folders (for example, Jane Doe (janedoe@iu.edu) Files and Folders). This folder will be owned by an administrative container called "Box Hold". However, this folder will not be immediately visible if you chose not to automatically accept incoming Box collaboration invitations.
You must manually accept the invitation to this folder.

Box Sync
It is not possible to sync individually owned data after an account is migrated. This is because it is set to read-only, and Box Sync requires at least Editor level access.
Use Box Drive instead of Box Sync. If you want to retain your local files in Box Sync, disable it before you are migrated.

See Use Microsoft or Google Forms to receive uploaded files. June 11, 2020
AD group permissions
