Wireless screen sharing in classrooms and conference rooms at IU

Since 2016, UITS has installed Mersive Solstice hardware to provide wireless screen sharing in UITS-managed classrooms, conference rooms, and huddle spaces. However, the vast majority of on-campus classes and meetings now include remote participants in a virtual meeting space like Zoom, Microsoft Teams at IU, or Google Meet. These software meeting tools accommodate remote participants and provide built-in wireless screen sharing options, making them more cost-effective and appropriate than Solstice and other hardware screen sharing devices that have limited functionality when remote participants attend a class or meeting.

UITS strongly recommends using software sharing/collaboration solutions, and does not expect to install new Solstice appliances. UITS will continue to explore and evaluate screen sharing solutions.
