ARCHIVED: Access and create shortcuts to shared files and folders in Microsoft OneDrive at IU

Files and folders that others share with you in Microsoft OneDrive at IU appear in OneDrive under "Shared". To access them:

  1. Go to Microsoft 365 at IU .
  2. Click OneDrive (the blue cloud icon).
  3. In the left navigation menu, click Shared.

To create a shortcut to a shared folder in your Microsoft OneDrive at IU account:

  1. Navigate to your shared files using the steps above.
  2. Click the checkmark beside the folder for which you want to make a shortcut.
  3. Click Add shortcut to My files.

To create a shortcut to an individual shared file in your Microsoft OneDrive at IU account:

  1. Navigate to your shared files using the steps above.
  2. Click the checkmark beside the file for which you want to make a shortcut.
  3. Click Copy link, and then Copy.
  4. At the top of the page, click OneDrive.
  5. In the left navigation menu, click My files.
  6. At the top of the page, click New, and then select Link from the drop-down menu.
  7. In the "Create link to" dialog box, paste the link you copied above. In the "File name" field, enter either the file's name, or your preferred display name.
  8. Click Create.
