ARCHIVED: About the IU eTexts (Unizin Engage) e-reader at IU

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

Engage is a university-standard e-reader designed to improve learning and teaching by promoting student and instructor engagement in the text. With Engage, users can read online or offline (on up to five devices), search, add highlights, write and organize notes, add bookmarks, view instructor's notes, share notes, copy and paste, and print pages.

At IU, Engage is available only in Canvas courses using a stand-alone eText ordered through the IU eTexts initiative. To access Engage, students and instructors select IU eTexts (Unizin Engage) from the navigation pane in any of their Canvas courses that have a stand-alone eText assigned.

Two versions of Engage are currently in use at IU; each version has a unique toolbar to help you determine which version you're using:

Note:
  • IU licenses the Engage e-reader from RedShelf; IU is using the RedShelf e-reader only.
  • You are not a RedShelf customer.
  • You cannot log in to the RedShelf website to access your IU eTexts titles.
  • You do not need to purchase anything from RedShelf when an IU eText is assigned.

For help with either version of Engage, submit questions in the IU eTexts Service Catalog.
