In OneStart, how do I assign a Grade Proxy to my class(es)?

If you are listed as a primary instructor on a class in the SIS Schedule of Classes, you can use the Grade Proxy link in Faculty Center to assign one or more grade proxies to your class(es). The page will allow you to designate other IU employees to either enter grades only or enter grades and give approval to the grade roster, submitting the grades to the campus registrar.

To use the Grade Proxy page:

  1. From the Faculty Center welcome page, click Grade Proxy next to the class to which you want to assign one or more proxies.

Note: If you do not see the Grade Proxy link, either your campus does not wish to use this feature, or you are not listed as the primary instructor of this class. Only instructors listed as primary have access to assign grade proxies on their own.

  2. Enter the 10-digit University ID for the proxy to be added. Verify that the correct person has been added by confirming the person's name and username on the page.

Note: If you use the Search feature (magnifying glass) to find the 10-digit ID, you should fill in as many fields as possible to narrow the list of results to the correct person. Verify the username and name on the search results page before selecting it.

  3. Select either Grade or Approve access in the Grade Roster Access column. Grade access allows a proxy to enter grades, while Approve access allows a proxy to enter grades and to submit the grades to the registrar.

  4. To add additional proxies or delete existing proxies, use Add Row and/or Delete Row for those individuals.

  5. Click Save to save the page.

Note: You will receive an email confirmation at your university email address when changes are saved.

  6. Click Return to go back to the Faculty Center home page.
