Manage your Two-Step Login (Duo) devices and settings
The instructions here assume you are already using Two-Step Login (Duo) at IU; if not, see Get started with Two-Step Login (Duo) at IU. These may also be helpful:

Access Two-Step Login (Duo)
When logging into your IU account, you will be required to authenticate with Duo. The Two-Step login (Duo) app is a tool for all IU accounts at IU to manage your Duo devices and settings.
To start managing your devices and settings:

Go to Two-Step Login (Duo).
If prompted, log in with your IU username and passphrase.
Note:If you need to manage devices or settings for a group account, be sure to log in with your group account credentials. If you're already logged into IU systems with your University account, you may want to open the link above in a private or incognito browser window.You will receive email notification if your login is completed successfully.
If you've lost or misplaced your device, contact your campus Support Center.
- Choose .
- Use the Duo Control Panel to complete another two-step login (Step 1 in the instruction panel).
- Use the Duo Control Panel to add a device or manage enrolled devices and settings (Step 2 in the instruction panel). Follow the specific instructions below for each task:
- Add a device
- Smartphone (iOS, Android, Windows)
- Tablet (iOS or Android)
- MacBook with Touch ID
- USB security key
- Single-button hardware token (This does not appear as an option in the drop-down menu)
- Smartphone without using a phone number
- Make changes to your Duo devices and settings
- Add a device
- A checkbox on the initial Duo login screen
Choosing any of these will temporarily suspend Duo prompts from the browser you're using.
Add a device
Smartphone (iOS, Android, Windows)
You can complete a two-step login using the Duo app by enrolling a smartphone:
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and choose .
- Enter your device's phone number and verify that it's correct. Choose .
- Select your device's operating system, and choose .
- Follow the instructions in the Duo Control Panel to install the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.
- Once Duo Mobile is installed, choose in the Duo Control Panel.
- Follow the instructions to activate Duo Mobile on your smartphone.
- Once Duo Mobile is activated, choose in the Duo Control Panel and it will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page, where your newly added device should be listed.
Tablet (iOS or Android)
You can complete a two-step login with the Duo Mobile app on a tablet.
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and choose .
- Select your device's operating system, and choose .
- Follow the instructions in the Duo Control Panel to install the Duo Mobile app on your tablet.
- Once Duo Mobile is installed, choose in the Duo Control Panel.
- Follow the instructions to activate Duo Mobile on your tablet.
- Once Duo Mobile is activated, choose in the Duo Control Panel and it will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page, where your newly added device should be listed.
MacBook with Touch ID
You can complete a Duo login by touching the Touch ID sensor on your MacBook while in the Chrome browser.
- Make sure you're using Chrome (version 70 or later).
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and choose .
- Select ; a pop-up window will display to continue enrollment.
- Tap the Touch ID sensor to enroll your MacBook. If you are prompted to give Duo access to Touch ID information, choose .
- The Duo Control Panel will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page, where your newly added device should be listed.
USB security key
You can complete a Duo login by tapping or inserting your USB security key.
- Be sure you're using a supported browser (Chrome 41 or later, Firefox 60 or later, or Opera 54 or later). Then insert the security key into your device's USB port.
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and then choose .
- Choose , and a pop-up window will display to continue enrollment.
- The system will automatically contact your device for approval. Depending on the model, you'll need to tap, insert, or press the button on your USB security key to complete the enrollment.
- The Duo Control Panel will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page, where your newly added device should be listed.
Single-button hardware token
If you have a single-button hardware token, the Support Center or your local UITS support person has probably already enrolled it with your Two-Step Login (Duo) account. To confirm, go to Two-Step Login (Duo) and select the green button. If the button instead reads "Enroll a device" (rather than "Your devices & settings"), contact your campus Support Center to request activation.
Smartphone without using a phone number
You can complete a two-step login with the Duo Mobile app.
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and choose .
- Select your device's operating system, and choose Note:If your phone's operating system is not listed, choose Rename a device.). (Your device may be named "Android" by default, but if you wish, you can rename it later; see
.
- Follow the instructions in the Duo Control Panel to install the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.
- Once Duo Mobile is installed, choose in the Duo Control Panel.
- Follow the instructions to activate Duo Mobile on your smartphone.
- Once Duo Mobile is activated, choose in the Duo Control Panel and it will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page, where your newly added device should be listed.
Make changes to your Duo devices and settings
Remove a device
- In the Duo Control Panel, next to the device you wish to remove, choose .
- Select the trash icon, and choose .
Rename a device
- In the Duo Control Panel, next to the device you wish to rename, choose .
- Select , and enter a new name for your device.
- Choose .
Set a default device
- If you have multiple Duo Push enabled devices, you can configure the default Push device. In the Duo Control Panel, select the drop-down menu next to "Default Device:", and then select the device you wish to set as your default for Duo.
- Choose .
Add a new number for an existing phone
- In the Duo Control Panel, choose .
- Select , and choose .
- Enter the new phone number, verify that it's correct, and then choose .
- Select your device's operating system, and choose .
- Since you should already have Duo Mobile installed, choose .
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone, tap , and then tap the minus icon next to the "Indiana University" entry. Select , and then, when prompted, confirm the deletion. Tap .
- Once the account has been removed, at the top, tap the plus icon, scan the QR code displayed on the computer monitor.
- Once the account is added in Duo Mobile, choose in the Duo Control Panel and it will refresh with the "My Settings & Devices" page.
- From the "My Devices" section, to the right of your old phone number, select , and then choose the trash icon.
- When prompted, select , and then choose .
Reactivate Duo Mobile
To reactivate Duo Mobile on a device if the app or your profile was removed:
- In the Duo Control Panel, next to the appropriate device, choose .
- Select
If the device is associated with a phone number, select the appropriate platform, and then choose
.If Duo Mobile is not installed on your device, follow the instructions in the Duo Control Panel to install the Duo Mobile app.
, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Select , and you will be presented with a QR code.
- Follow the instructions in the Duo Control Panel to reactivate Duo Mobile on your device.
- To finish reactivating Duo Mobile, choose .
Remove an account from Duo Mobile
- Open Duo Mobile on your device, and then tap .
- Tap (minus sign) next to the "Indiana University" account, and select .
- When prompted, confirm the account deletion, and then tap .
