For Mac OS and Mac OS X, what is Fetch, and where can I get it?
Fetch is an application that allows you to upload and download files over the Internet via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). You can use it to access anonymous FTP or private FTP sites, or to transfer files between your computer and your personal accounts on a shared system. Fetch will also automatically decode files that have been encoded with BinHex, MacBinary, and StuffIt. Fetch 4.0 and later is native to Mac OS X.
Jim Matthews developed Fetch for Dartmouth College. Dartmouth College no longer provides access to or support for Fetch; Jim Matthews has licensed the source code and name, and launched Fetch Softworks for distribution and support of Fetch. For more information, see:
http://fetchsoftworks.com/Note: You need to use a client that supports secure FTP (e.g., SSH Secure Shell for Windows or MacSFTP for Macintosh) to transfer files to and from Indiana University's central systems. For more, see What is SFTP, and how do I use it?
Fetch 5 supports SFTP.
