What is IU Webmail?

Note: UITS has migrated undergraduate student accounts from the IU Webmail (Cyrus) system to the Google-sponsored Umail system; see About the automatic email account migration from IU Webmail (Cyrus) to Umail.

IU Webmail is a web-based email system at Indiana University, allowing access to accounts on the Cyrus mail system. It provides basic email service through a simple web interface, allowing you to read mail easily from anywhere without having to reconfigure a browser or mail client software, as well as to send and open attachments easily from your desktop.

Your mail on the Cyrus mail system resides on an IMAP server, and IU Webmail connects to the server to retrieve your mail. If you have an account on the Cyrus mail system, you can log into IU Webmail to access your mail at:

https://webmail.iu.edu/

In the "Username" and "Passphrase" fields, enter your IU Network ID username and passphrase.

Webmail provides basic email functionality; see Features of IU Webmail. If you require more sophisticated functionality, consider using a desktop email client to access your mail. For more, see Reading your Cyrus mail using a desktop email client.

To learn more about IU Webmail, see the IU Webmail tutorial provided by IT Training & Education at IU.
