ARCHIVED: In the Oncourse Original Test and Survey tool, what question types are available for tests?

In the Original Test and Survey tool, there are seven question types available for tests.

Some collect text for you to grade manually:

  • Short answer: Presents users with a question followed by a single-line text box in which to enter the answer

  • Essay: Presents users with a question followed by a multi-line text area in which to enter the answer

Others can be graded automatically:

  • Multiple choice: Presents users with a question followed by a list of possible answers, only one of which is correct

  • Multiple correct answer: Presents users with instructions and a list of items, each of which has a checkbox; users can select all applicable items from the list by checking the appropriate boxes

  • True/false: Presents users with a statement that they must identify as being either true or false

  • Fill in the blank: Presents users with a question followed by a text box in which to enter the answer; each user's answer is compared to a list of allowed answers

  • Matching: Presents users with a series of terms and definitions; users must match each term with the correct definition
