  • Essay: Presents users with a question followed by a multi-line text area in which to enter the answer

Others can be graded automatically:

  • Multiple correct answer: Presents users with instructions and a list of items, each of which has a checkbox; users can select all applicable items from the list by checking the appropriate boxes
  • True/false: Presents users with a statement that they must identify as being either true or false
  • Fill in the blank: Presents users with a question followed by a text box in which to enter the answer; each user's answer is compared to a list of allowed answers
  • Matching: Presents users with a series of terms and definitions; users must match each term with the correct definition
