At IUB, how can I get temporary access to the Internet without a Network ID?

To access the Internet without a Network ID at Indiana University Bloomington, you have three options:

  • You can request a guest ADS domain account at any of the IUB libraries. These guest accounts are available free of charge; they remain active for 30 days and can be used at all IUB campus libraries. For more information, call 812-855-4673, or visit: http://www.libraries.iub.edu/index.php?pageId=7551
    • The account does not include any printing. If you need to print, you may purchase a supplemental printing allotment at the UITS Support Center walk-in location in the Information Commons in the Wells Library. A supplemental allotment provides 100 pages of black-and-white printing for $4.

    • The guest ADS domain account does not grant you access to computers in IUB's Student Technology Centers (including the Information Commons) or Residential Technology Centers, or at UITS Infostations, nor does it enable you to connect your laptop to IUB's network via an Ethernet or wireless connection. Those services are reserved for students, faculty, and staff with Network ID accounts.

  • You can have a faculty or staff sponsor assign a Network Access account to you. These accounts provide wireless access to the Internet for a maximum of 21 days. For more information, see Network Access account basics.

  • Guests of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), or attendees of conferences hosted by the IMU, may get temporary ADS login accounts for access to computer kiosks and the wireless network in the IMU. For more information, see the IMU Hotel front desk.
