What is an IU Guest account?
If you have no formal relationship with Indiana University, you can use the Account Management Service (AMS) to create a Guest account, which will give you limited access to certain online applications and services of the university. The amount of access is determined by the particular application.
Guest accounts are entirely separate from Network Access accounts (for visitors such as guest speakers or vendors) and IU Affiliate accounts (for people formally affiliated with IU but who are not officially students or employees, e.g., contractors or grant-funded researchers). They are not associated with or necessary for IU's AT&T wireless service, which is for visitors with no official campus business; see How can IU visitors connect to AT&T wireless free of charge? IU Guest accounts are also entirely separate from the Library Guest Accounts offered at IU Bloomington; see At IUB, how can I get temporary access to the Internet without a Network ID?
To create a Guest account, see At IU, how do I create a Guest account?
Note: For all Guest accounts, the full
email address provided (e.g.,
foo@hotmail.com ) is the account's username.
You must enter the full address when asked for a
username to successfully authenticate to the online
applications and services of the university.
Note: IU Guest accounts do not have access to all the services offered by UITS or the university. Among the services not available to Guest accounts are IUware (software available for download), email (including IU Webmail), and access to computers in IU Student Technology Centers.
Note: Guest accounts will not allow authentication to ITHelpLive, but Guest account users may use all other support options described in How do I contact the Support Center at each IU campus for help?
