In Safari for Mac OS X, how do I view and control cookies?

In Safari for Mac OS X, to view your cookies or change your cookie settings, first determine what version you're using. To do this, from the Safari menu, select About Safari. Then, follow the appropriate instructions below:

Safari 5.1 and later

  1. In Safari, from the Safari menu, select Preferences... .

  2. In the Safari preferences window, click Privacy.

  3. To set your preferences for accepting cookies, next to "Block cookies:" select From this parties and advertisers, Always, or Never.

  4. If you have any cookies or other web site data stored, click Details... . To remove the data from a site, highlight it and click Remove. To remove the data from all sites, click Remove All. When you're finished, click Done to return to the preferences window.

Safari 5.0.x and earlier

  1. In Safari, from the Safari menu, select Preferences... .

  2. In the Safari preferences window, click Security.

  3. To enable cookies, next to "Accept Cookies:", select Always or Only from sites you navigate to. To disable cookies, select Never.

  4. To view your cookies, click Show Cookies. In the sheet that drops down, you can browse the list of cookies on your computer. To remove a cookie, highlight it and click Remove. To remove all cookies, click Remove All. When you're finished, click Done to return to the preferences window.
