If I use IU's research computers, what sources of funding do I need to acknowledge in my published work?
The facilities supported by the Research Technologies division at Indiana University are supported by a number of grants. These grants require that support from them be acknowledged. Also, conscientious acknowledgment of past grants enhances the chances of getting future grants. Following is a summary of recent grants and the acknowledgment statements required for each grant. Note that these are not either/or; it might be very common to need to acknowledge up to three of these sources at once.
On this page:
- TeraGrid
- Indiana Genomics Initiative
- Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
- National Institutes of Health
- Big Red
- Libra, MDSS, and the RDC
- Data Capacitor
- CAVE, Immersadesk, SGI Origin 2000, Sun E10000, and SCAAMP project

The project described was supported by grant number 1U24AA014818-01 from NIAAA/NIH. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the NIAAA/NIH.
Grants that make use of the 3D facial imaging equipment associated with CIFASD should also acknowledge support from the Indiana Genomics Initiative (see above for details).
National Institutes of Health
The NIH Public Access Policy, effective May 2, 2005, is designed to accelerate the public's access to published articles resulting from NIH-funded research. This policy requests NIH-funded investigators to submit to the NIH National Library of Medicine's (NLM) PubMed Central (PMC) an electronic version of all final manuscripts, upon acceptance for publication, that resulted from research supported in whole or in part with direct costs from NIH through any funding mechanism. The author's final manuscript is defined as the final version accepted for journal publication, and includes all modifications from the publishing peer review process. The policy requests and strongly encourages that authors specify posting of their final manuscripts for public accessibility as soon as possible (and within 12 months of the publisher's official date of final publication). The NIH final policy, its implementation plan, Q&As, and other relevant materials are available on the NIH Public Access web site.
Following are statements for some specific systems:
