What is Cyrus mail?

Cyrus mail is Indiana University's IMAP email system. You can access your Cyrus mail account through IU Webmail or via a desktop client such as Mac OS X Mail or Thunderbird. For a list of available desktop clients and links to configuration instructions, see Reading your Cyrus mail.

In Cyrus mail, users do not receive their email on an individual IMAP server. Instead, the single hostname imap.iu.edu connects users to the IMAP environment, where mail is stored on a SAN (Storage Area Network). The default storage allotment for Cyrus mail is 100 MB.

For more information about the email systems available at IU, see Email at each IU campus.
