About logging into the Knowledge Base
Anyone may use the Knowledge Base to search for answers to technical questions. However, some groups at Indiana University have access to restricted content. If you belong to one of these groups (e.g., UITS, OVPIT, TCC), you must log into the Knowledge Base to view the restricted content.
Note: Access to UITS-only content in the Knowledge Base is granted by membership in a dynamic group (VPIT) managed by the UITS Identity Management Systems (IMS) group. If you're part of the VPIT group, you should be able to log into the Knowledge Base, and view UITS-only content.
To log into the Knowledge Base, in the upper left of any page,
click Login>>, and then enter your Network
ID credentials. Once you're logged in, the Login in the
upper left changes to Logout. To log out, click Logout
username (where username is your Network ID
username).
Logging in sets a cookie allowing you access for 24
hours, or until you log out. If your browser is not set to accept
cookies automatically, you will need to add kb.iu.edu to
the list of exceptions.
If you do not have privileged access to the Knowledge Base, logging in will not allow you to see restricted content.
Note: If you're not already logged in when you try
to access an internal document, you'll see a message saying you don't
have permission to view the document. If you then log into the KB
using the main login link (in the upper left), you'll be redirected to
the main KB search page, and will have to re-enter the URL
to get to the internal page. If you instead click log in in
the text of the error message (see Figure 1), you can enter your
credentials, and land directly on the page you were trying to
access.
