The following sources offer information about GIS and remote sensing training available at Indiana University:

• GIS Certificate and Master's Program
  IUPUI Geography Department offers an undergraduate and graduate certificate of GIS as well as a Masters of Science in GIS.
  
  
• IT Training Workshops
  A list of GIS hands-on workshops available from IT Training. To download workshop files or presentation slides from past workshops or lectures, see the GIS files page.
  
  
• IGIC Classes and Seminars
  The Indiana Geographic Information Council offers free and low-cost seminars on a variety of GIS and remote sensing topics. You can also register for web seminars (webinars) at this site.
  
  
• Polis Center
  ESRI-certified, instructor-led courses at the Polis Center at IUPUI
  
  
• ESRI Virtual Campus
  ESRI offers self-paced, virtual training courses on the web that include technical instruction for ESRI software and GIS concepts. IU's site license with ESRI allows students, faculty, and staff to take many virtual courses for free. ESRI also offers free training seminars on a variety of GIS topics available as live presentations on your computer.
  
  
• ESRI Tutorials
  You can download ESRI's Software Document Library from IUware. This package includes documentation and Quick Start Tutorials in PDF format for ArcGIS applications and extensions. These tutorials are also available in Student Technology Centers at IUB under the R drive.
  
  
• ESRI Instructional Series Podcasts
  The ESRI Instructional Series offers free short audio recordings that focus on hot topics such as tips to improve your workflow, tricks for optimizing your geodatabase, and updates on new software features.
  
  
• ESRI Press Book Request Form
  Qualified faculty who will be adopting the requested text as a required course book may request a complimentary copy of the book by submitting their information using this web page.

The following non-IU sources offer GIS and remote sensing training for purchase:

• ESRI Instructor-Led Training
  ESRI offers 40 on-site training courses for software (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ArcSDE) in 50 US locations. You can choose basic, intermediate, or advanced level classes by location or topic. IU faculty and staff qualify for a 40% educational discount for on-site training. If you are interested, contact a UITS GIS Support Specialist at  uitsgis@indiana.edu .
  
  
• ERDAS classes
  If you use ERDAS software, these basic, intermediate, and advanced courses are designed to develop skills in extracting information from imagery. ERDAS offers hands-on training at three Customer Education centers in the US. IU students, faculty, and staff are eligible to take a limited number of training days for no cost. Free passes are issued each year on a first come, first served basis. You are responsible for travel expenses. Contact a UITS GIS Support Specialist at  uitsgis@indiana.edu .
  
  
• Geo-Spatial Training Services
  These affordable GIS training courses for GIS software (e.g., ESRI and Google Earth) are delivered on CD media, with audio PowerPoint presentations and exercises. Presentations include several examples to watch the instructor's computer desktop and see the software in action.
