At IU, how do I install ERDAS IMAGINE 2010?

Installing the ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 application
- Uninstall any ERDAS IMAGINE service pack or fix.
- Uninstall any previous versions of IMAGINE before installing
IMAGINE 2010; see In Windows, how do I uninstall programs?
- Download ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 from IUware and save it
to your computer. Double-click the downloaded
*.exefile to begin installation. ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 requires 1.21GB of disk space.Note: Permission to access this software is given upon purchase of an ERDAS license through UITS; see At IU, how do I purchase software from ERDAS?
- In the
ERDAS_IMAGINE_2010window, accept the default destination folder (C:\IUware Online\ERDAS_IMAGINE_2010) or browse to a new folder, and then clickInstall. This will unpack the ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 compressed archive on your local system.
- To launch the
ERDAS IMAGINE InstallShield Wizard, open thesetup.exefile from theERDAS_IMAGINE_2010folder.
- To install and configure ERDAS-Net licensing, click
Install. When the ERDAS IMAGINE 2010InstallShield Wizardwindow appears, clickNextto continue.
- Accept the license agreement, and then click
Next.
- Accept the default destination folder for installation and click
Next.
- By default, all available modules will be installed. To avoid
wasted disk space, you can choose to deselect unnecessary
modules. Click
Next, and then clickInstall.
- When installation is complete, check
Launch License Managerto specify licensing information, and then clickFinish. TheERDAS-Net License Admin Toolwindow will appear. Continue with the appropriate set of instructions below.Note: If you had a previous version of IMAGINE installed on your machine, you will see a message instructing you to copy the
batchand/or thesessionrecoveryfile from$HOME\.imagine930to$HOME\.imagine1000. Follow the instructions, and then clickOKto close the window. If you are using Windows Vista on the ADS domain, thesessionrecoveryfile is located atC:\Users\username.ADS\.imagine930.
Connecting to the ERDAS central license service (IU network)
Note: If you are off campus, first connect to the IU VPN.
- To open the license manager, from the
Startmenu, clickAll Programs, thenERDAS 2010, thenERDAS-Net Licensing 2010, and thenLicense Administration.
- In the
ERDAS-Net License Admin Toolwindow, from theServer tab, selectAdd Remote Server.
- In the
License Server Informationwindow, in the "License Server" field, typeerdas1.uits.indiana.edu. Next to "Port Number:", type27001. This is the primary license service. ClickOK.
- To add the backup license service, from the
Servertab, selectAdd Remote Server.
- In the
License Server Informationwindow, in the "License Server" field, typeerdas2.uits.indiana.edu. Next to "Port Number:", type27001. ClickOK.
- To test availability of a license service, expand the
License Sourcesfolder and select a feature (e.g.,ERDAS MosaicPro). The number of licenses available will be 100 or less, depending on the number of people connected to the service. If you do not see anything listed under "Feature Properties", you are not connected to the license service.
- Close the
ERDAS-Net Licensing 2010window.
Loading a local license for laptop or home computer
- To open the license manager, from the
Startmenu, clickAll Programs, thenERDAS 2010, thenERDAS-Net Licensing 2010, and thenLicense Administration.
- From the
ERDAS-Net License Admin Toolwindow, selectSystemfrom the top menu, and then selectShow SysID.
- Copy the local area connection (LAC) ID code or dongle number. If you purchased an ERDAS license from UITS, email this code along with your IU department name to the GIS Support Specialists, with "ERDAS 2010 license request" in the subject line. Use your IU email address; requests from outside IU will be denied.
System IDs will be different for each computer.
- Once you receive the license file (
.elf) by email, save it to your computer.
- To open the ERDAS-Net License Admin Tool, from the
Startmenu, clickAll Programs, thenERDAS 2010,ERDAS-Net Licensing 2010, and thenLicense Administration.
- From the
ERDAS-Net window, selectFile, and thenLoad license file.
- Click
Browseand navigate to the directory where the license file is stored. Select the file, and then clickOpen. ClickOKto confirm the license file pathway.
- To test the availability of a license service, expand the
License Sourcesfolder and select a feature (e.g.,ERDAS MosaicPro). The number of licenses available will be at least one, depending on the number of licenses purchased from UITS. If you do not see anything listed under "Feature Properties", the license service is not running.
- Close the
ERDAS-Net Licensingwindow.
Example data available on MDSS
ERDAS 2010 example data is currently not available. Additional software and data for IMAGINE 9.3 is available on the Massive Data Storage System(MDSS) in the following directory:
