ARCHIVED: How do I search for a student organization in My Involvement?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

In My Involvement, you can search for an organization by its name, description, or keywords, by its category, by its status, or by a combination of these. You can also find organizations on the Home tab under "Suggested Organizations", which My Involvement presents based on your listed interests.

To search for an organization:

  1. From the Organizations tab, click Organization Search.
  2. Enter the parameters for your search:
    • Name, description, or keywords: Enter terms in the "Organization Name, Nickname, Description or Keywords" field. If you do not know the exact name, enter terms that you think will appear in the organization's name, description, or keywords.
      Note:
As you type, this field will begin to list matching organizations; you can click any of these to complete the field.
    • Category: Use the "Organization Category" drop-down menu to select a category within which to search. Note that some categories have many organizations, so searching by this parameter alone may result in a very large output.
    • Status: Use the "Organization Status" drop-down menu to select the relevant status. The options are Registered or Not Registered.

The "Organization Name, Nickname, Description or Keywords", "Organization Category", and "Organization Status" parameters can be combined. Use them in combination to narrow down your searches. If you use too few keywords or keywords that are very common, or enter a category without any keyword, your search results may be very large.

  3. Click Search.
