The SharePoint on-premises service is being replaced by SharePoint Online, available since July 2016. For more, see ARCHIVED: About the SharePoint retirement.

  • If you are a SharePoint site owner whose site has been disabled, you can visit SharePoint Standard Farm Migration to request an extension/re-enable. SharePoint will be permanently disabled no later than June 2, 2017; most sites should have migrated to SharePoint Online by March 31, 2017. Sites scheduled to be disabled on March 31 were disabled on April 3, 2017.
  • ARCHIVED: SharePoint My Sites were permanently retired on April 3, 2017.
Notes:
  • The following applies only to the UITS SharePoint service, not SharePoint Online.
  • SharePoint Online supports all common browsers.
  • For details about using SharePoint on OS X, see ARCHIVED: How can I use SharePoint on OS X?

Web browser support

Microsoft supports Safari on iOS 4.0 and later, with limitations noted below.

Edit in browser

iOS 5 is required for in-browser editing of SharePoint documents in Safari. In earlier versions of iOS, Safari does not support the contenteditable attribute, and thus cannot support in-browser editing.

Internet plug-ins

Internet plug-ins (e.g., Flash and Silverlight) are not supported in Safari for iOS, so content that relies on them cannot be displayed.

SharePoint iOS apps

Two popular SharePoint apps for devices running iOS are Filamente and SharePlus, but these apps are limited in their functionality (see the Filamente and SharePlus feature comparison pages).

Editing

Filamente and SharePlus are useful for viewing your SharePoint documents, but they don't allow you to edit documents directly. To edit your documents, use a separate editor app, such as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote by Apple, Docs, Sheets, and Slides by Google, DataViz Documents To Go, or Branchfire iAnnotate.

Purchasing

For information on purchasing iOS apps, see Purchasing Apps & Books.
