What is Mozilla Thunderbird and where can I get it?

Note: A known issue with Thunderbird version 1.5 for Windows can cause outgoing email to hang and eventually crash the program. To access your Cyrus or Exchange mail using IMAP, the UITS Support Center recommends using version 2.x (available from IUware Online).

Thunderbird is a graphical email client and newsreader developed by the Mozilla Foundation. The application, available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, includes support for both IMAP and POP email.

You can download Thunderbird for free from the Mozilla site:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/

IU students, faculty, and staff can download Thunderbird from IUware Online:

http://iuware.iu.edu/

To configure Thunderbird to read your IU email, see the appropriate Knowledge Base document:
