Security recommendations for non-IU email accounts

Overview

At Indiana University, when accessing a non-IU email account from a university-owned system, UITS recommends the following best practices:

  • Type your password only when initially logging into your account. Never enter it if you've clicked an unknown link and are prompted for your password.
  • Use a password that you don't use for anything else.
  • Whenever possible, enable two-step verification.
  • Never share your password.
