At IU, can I use hubs, repeaters, or switches on the campus network?

The use of Ethernet hubs, repeaters, and switches on the Indiana University network is subject to limitations described in the university's Extending the University Data Network (IT-19) policy. For details pertaining to hubs and switches, see the "Layer-2 devices" paragraph in the Procedures section of IT-19.

To prevent network problems, end-user Ethernet switches on the IU network must meet basic requirements published by UITS. For an explanation of these requirements, and for testing instructions, see At IU, is my Ethernet switch compatible with the campus network?

For a list of switches that meet UITS requirements, see At IU, what switches are recommended for use on the campus network?
