To create setup boot disks for Windows, follow the appropriate directions for your operating system:

Windows 7 or Vista

To format your hard drive, you will need to boot using the Windows 7 or Vista DVD. You cannot boot from a floppy disk.

Windows XP Home and Professional

To create a setup boot disk for Windows XP, download the setup boot disk utility available in article 310994 at the Microsoft Help and Support web site. This article also includes instructions on how to use the utility.
