ARCHIVED: In SAS, why did I get a syntax error when my statement is correct?

If you received a syntax error in SAS and your statement is correct, the problem may be with the statement prior to the one indicating the error.

Make sure there is a semicolon at the end of the preceding statement. Otherwise, SAS will not recognize that the previous statement is finished and that you wish to execute the next statement.
