ARCHIVED: In Microsoft Word 97, 98, 2000, or 2001, why aren't my page numbers printing?

In Microsoft Word 97, 98, 2000, or 2001, if you have inserted page numbers at the bottom or top of a page and they aren't printing, the page numbers are probably outside the printable area of your printer. If the numbers are in a footer or header, you can raise the footer margin or lower the header margin into the printable area.
To do this, you need to adjust the vertical position of the header or footer:
- From the menu, select .
- On the
Header and Footer
toolbar, click the button (the icon that looks like an open book). Click the tab. - In the "Header:" field, enter the distance you want from the top
edge of the page to the top of the header. In the "Footer:" field,
enter the distance you want from the bottom edge of the page to the
